First week -
Didn't have a stove or fridge. It was fun trying to eat, especially since most eating establishments don't even bother cleaning the inch thick coat of grime off their windows. Why lie?
Was introduced to the clan - I feel like there's a bigger word for the hierarchy - of water bugs that live in my building. Thankfully none have breached the perimeter of my apt YET. However, I see the funeral procession of dozens of them every morning when I wake up.
Saw the man injecting crack/heroine/laundry detergent (this is all Tiffany's friend) - into his arm in my back stairway. He looks like he's been crying, eyes are bloodshot and he's got a liquid dripping down his arm. Gets Jarett in a tizzy, but what do you do to stop the crackhead? It's a dilemma I've never had to ponder before. But in aforementioned murder trial, I'd start in the back staircase for clues.
First month:
Super takes keys to fix things in apartment. Super doesn't speak English - like AT ALL. Super now in habit of letting himself into apartment. I find things moved in apartment. And packages delivered to my couch. Nice Super, not sure how I feel about this.
Noticed trash lives in my hallways. Smells like pee every morning (this becomes important later). People like to leave their half eaten...everything in lobby and hallway on floor. I decide all tenants here have no will to live. It's been super fun pulling every conceivable edible (barely) product out of the dog's mouths. We're learning "don't eat."
Meet crazy bicycle man who asks Jarett and I if we play pool. He has a wonky eye, and I'm not sure if he has a hunchback.
Neighbors down the hall are too scared to let their children outside. Instead they let them roll around the hallway on scooters and bicycles screaming like banshees. I hate children more by the day.
Fell in pee. Still have huge bruise on knee.
Need to start taking pictures of these things so that when I run screaming from this place with a dachshund under either arm. I'll have a record of this.
